Mission
Statement:
Our goal is to be an action oriented committee that will address the needs of our congregation, our community
and our world. Our congregation will be our first priority.
For community and
worldwide assistance, we will place a priority with ELCA sponsored
activities.
The following are the
programs with which the Social Ministry team are currently
involved.
- Good
Neighbors - St Paul and
other Churches in the area refer non-members who are in need of financial help,
such as utilities bills, rent etc. They must fill out forms and bring actual
bills into the office to prove they are truly in need.
- B C
E A C (Blount County Ecumenical Action Council) - A county wide
initiative to help those in need. Currently two St. Paul members are on the council.
- Habitat
for Humanity Restore - A store in
downtown Maryville where building supplies and furniture can be donated.
- Haven
House - A home for
battered women.
- Card
Ministry - Sends cards to
members for life events.
- Bereavement
Luncheons - Hosted following funeral services at St. Paul.
- Thanksgiving
Baskets and the Angel Tree Gifts - Are provided by our congregation for those in need.
- Community
Food Connection - Members of St. Paul help staff this ministry.
- Meals
To Members - A group of volunteers who bring meals to members of our congregation after surgery
or injury.
- House
of Courage - A home for women who
choose to have their babies without any support or even encouragement from their
families, hence the name House of Courage.
